HB2686: Eastern Red Cedar Initiative advances from committee

Oklahoma

The Agriculture and Rural Development Committee, chaired by Rep. Don Armes (R-Faxon), passed by unanimous vote HB2686, the Eastern Red Cedar Initiative authored by Rep. Richard Morrissette (D-Oklahoma City).

"I am grateful to Chairman Armes and every member of the committee, and I am very encouraged for Oklahomans. I really think that we are on the right path toward forming a coalition of forces that under the coordination and guidance of this bill will go forward with a new energy--together--to control the spread of this invasive species," Morrissette commented after the hearing.

The bill now waits scheduling for hearing on the House floor.

The last of four statewide Eastern Red Cedar meetings will be held on March 2 at the Canadian Valley Vo-Tech, 1401 W. Michigan Ave. in Chickasha, Okla., from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
