Nemaha County soybean farmer appointed to serve on United Soybean BoardNebraska Representing Nebraska as one of the newly appointed farmer-directors on the United Soybean Board will be Nemaha County soybean farmer, Mark Caspers of Auburn, Neb. U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack recently announced the appointment of 16 farmer-leaders and two alternates to the USB and soybean checkoff. All appointees will serve three-year terms beginning immediately and represent the interests of all U.S. soybean farmers. USB is made up of 68 farmer-directors who oversee the investments of the soybean checkoff on behalf of all U.S. soybean farmers. Checkoff funds are invested in the areas of animal utilization, human utilization, industrial utilization, industry relations, market access and supply. As stipulated in the Soybean Promotion, Research and Consumer Information Act, "This is a great opportunity to serve as a farmer-director on the United Soybean Board," says Caspers. "I know that the soybean has a multitude of uses, and it is my top priority to promote increased demand for new uses of soybean products that have already been developed with the help of the soybean checkoff."
