Arkansas Cow/Calf Conference plannedArkansas Beef cattle producers will be able learn the latest techniques to increase profits at the Arkansas Cow/Calf Conference on March 16, hosted by the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture with sponsorship by Farm Credit Services of Western. This year's theme is "Adding Value to Your Calves." The meeting will be held at the Southwest Research and Extension Center Byproducts Barn in Hope. Program cost is $15 if registered by March 9 or $20 at the door. The fee will include proceedings, snacks, and lunch. For more information or to register, contact the Clark County Extension office at 870-246-2281. Please make all checks payable to the Arkansas Agricultural Development Council (AADC). The program opens at 9:30 a.m. with registration. The morning session begins at 10:30 a.m. with a tour that includes two demonstration stops: 1) fescue and calf weaning weights study and 2) artificial insemination. In the afternoon, Extension and other cattle industry beef and forage production specialists will discuss impacts that affect cattle prices, cost and benefits for preconditioning, pros and cons of establishing producer alliances, and conclude with a market outlook.
