Fritz receives Superior Service award from ExtensionTexas Dale A. Fritz, Ph.D., Texas AgriLife Extension Service administrator for AgriLife Extension's southeast district headquartered at College Station, was presented a 2009 Superior Service award for his administrative abilities at the AgriLife Conference held in January on the Texas A&M University campus. Fritz's nomination noted that he has a passion for Extension work and the impact it has on the lives of Texans. Fritz's district is the most populated area in Texas with some of the more complex and diverse AgriLife Extension programs in the state. Fritz was noted for his ability to develop a positive rapport with county commissioners' courts by working closely with local AgriLife Extension staff. These collaborations have been successful in delivering clear result-based interpretive programs to the district's decision makers, according to the nomination documentation. He has further enhanced interpretation of Extension efforts by creating documents and support materials to assist AgriLife Extension county agents in their efforts. One of these tools is a yearly newsletter that summarizes each county's annual accomplishments based on their outcome. The document showcases the range of educational programs that result in economic, social and environmental impacts to county clients. Fritz also invests time interpreting county programs to state legislators. He often asks AgriLife Extension county agents to help field questions and concerns these leaders may have. Other areas of work organization that contributed to the award garnered by Fritz included enhancement of professional development of AgriLife Extension agents, district awards and recognition committee, use of cluster committees for district 4-H events and innovative ideas for new employee recruitment.
