Grain, soybean bids lower

Grain and soybean bids were lower with wheat slightly higher as the markets are focusing on the acreage, grain stocks and supply/demand reports to be released Jan. 12, according to the National Grain Market Summary, Jan. 11.

Wheat was the only one in positive territory today due to fund buying. Corn was slightly lower on fund selling and improved crop conditions in Argentina.

Wheat was mostly 2 to 6 cents higher. Corn was mostly steady to 1 cent lower. Sorghum was 1 cent lower. Soybeans were 8 to 11 cents lower.

In the futures close, Kansas City March wheat was $5.66, up 6 cents.

Terminal wheat bids, paid for truck delivery, included Kansas City, $4.98 to $5.01, up 6 cents; Minneapolis, $6.08, up 3 cents; Portland, $4.90 to $5.05, up 5 cents to unchanged; St. Louis, $4.64, up 6 cents.

Terminal corn bids, U.S. No. 2 yellow, price paid for truck deliver, included: Kansas City, $3.99 to $4.03, unchanged; Minneapolis, $3.64 1/2, down 1/2 cent; southern Iowa, $3.72 to $3.83 1/2, down 1/4 to 1/2 cent; Omaha, $3.93 to $4.05, unchanged.

Terminal soybean bids, U.S. No. 1, price paid for truck delivery, included: Kansas City, $9.86, down 11 cents; Minneapolis, no bids; southern Iowa, $9.70 to $9.74, no change available; central Illinois processors, $10.05 1/2 to $10.13 1/2, down 11 1/2 cents.

Kansas City wheat prices Jan. 12, spot, fob track, included: No. 1 hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, $5.03 to $5.52, down 32cents; 12% protein, $5.47 to $5.73, down 32 cents; 13% protein, $5.60 to $6.14, down 32 cents; 14% protein, $5.99 to $6.14, down 32 cents. U.S. No. 2 soft red winter wheat was $4.79 to $5.69, down 32 cents. U.S. No. 2 white corn was $4.28 to $4.35, unchanged.
