Wyoming sugar beet dig stopped

POWELL, Wyo. (AP)--Western Sugar Cooperative officials have again halted growers from digging beets in the Lovell district of northern Wyoming.

Officials say they must concentrate on processing beets that are deteriorating in piles already at receiving stations.

Glen Reed of the Big Horn Basin Sugar Beet Growers Association said co-op officials announced late Nov. 30 that beet piles are showing some damage.

Reed says the damage is showing in beets that were harvested and piled at the beginning of the harvest in October.
