All-star Western swing band to play Cowboy Christmas Ball Dec. 19

Texas

Dance, dance, dance!

An all-star band of Western swing musicians will play for the 9th Annual Cowboy Christmas Ball Dec. 19, in the Activity Center in Crowell, Texas. The repertoire will feature Bob Wills' music.

Vocalist Leon Rausch, steel guitarist Bobby Koefer and other performers who once played with Western Swing icon Bob Wills will be on stage to honor his legacy.

"The evening of dance music will feature Western Swing, Big Band, Cajun, and Classic Country, said Wendell Sollis, bandleader. "Singer-song writer and accordionist Ginny Mac will team up with fiddler George Uptmor, lead guitarist Ronny Dale Shultz and the rest of the band for a night of excellent music and entertainment."

Musicians in the line-up are Rausch, vocals; Koefer, steel guitar; Uptmor, fiddle; Jimmy Young, fiddle; Ginny Mac, accordion; Wayne Glasson, keyboard; Mike Moore, trumpet; Steve "Hambone" Ham, trombone; Shultz, lead guitar; Terry Thompson, drums; Ron Ellis, bass, and Sollis, banjo. A special guest vocalist, Ashley Nicole Wheeler, recently chosen Miss Southwestern Oklahoma State University Outstanding Teen, will join the band.

"The recently remodeled Activity Center is a great location, but the number of tickets we can sell is limited," said J. W. Sollis, the local contact for the event. "It will be an evening of the very best in dance music. Anyone who wants to attend should buy tickets early."

Tickets are $30. and may be purchased by contacting J. W. Sollis at jwsollis@yahoo.com or call 940-684-1894. Tables for ten may be purchased.
