Lexington livestock sales reportThe Lexington Livestock Market, Lexington, Neb., reported receipts of 3,790 head Jan. 29, compared to 2,700 head last week and 3,250 head last year, according to the USDA-Nebraska Department of Agriculture Market News, Kearney, Neb. Compared with last week, steers trended mostly steady to $3 higher with instances of thinner 500 to 600 pound steers trading as much as $7 to $8 higher. Heifers trended steady to $4 higher, with instances of $5 to $6 higher. Demand was very good and trade activity moderate to active. Receipts consisted of 52% steers and 48% heifers with 62% of the total feeder cattle receipts weighing over 600 pounds.
