Clovis livestock auction report

The Clovis Livestock Auction Summary, Clovis, N.M., reported receipts of 2,385 head Jan. 29, compared to 2,931 head last week and 1,356 head last year, according to the USDA-New Mexico Department of Agriculture Market News, Clovis, N.M.

Compared to a week ago, feeder steers and heifers were steady to weak. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. Trade was active, demand was good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 700-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows were 14% of the offering, slaughter bulls 3%, bred cows less than 1%, feeders 82%. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 66% of the run; feeder bulls 3%, heifers 31%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 33%.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1440 to 2280 lbs., 57.25 to 64.00; high dressing, 1880 to 2150 lbs., 66.00 to 66.75; low dressing, 1100 to 1695 lbs., 45.00 to 55.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package young to middle aged, 987 lbs., 6 to 8 months bred 1060.00, per head; middle aged to aged, 1140 to 1280 lbs., 6 to 8 months bred 700.00 to 885.00, per head; 905 to 1150 lbs., 3 to 6 months bred 550.00 to 625.00; aged, 820 to 1005 lbs., 6 to 8 months bred 355.00 to 520.00, per head.
