The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 3,657 head, Jan. 28, compared to 4,320 head, last week and 2,408 head, last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan. Compared to last week, steer and heifers 350 to 700 pounds were firm to $2 higher, steers 700 to 1000 pounds, bulk of the trade were weak to $1 lower, few sales were steady, heifers 700 to 950 pounds were steady to $1 lower. Trade and demand was moderate. Receipts included 79% 600 pounds and over, 21% 600 pounds and under, less then 1% slaughter cows. The feeder supply included 67% steers and 33% heifers.
