Newell sheep sales reportSt. Onge Livestock Co., Ltd., Newell, S.D., reported receipts of 922 head Jan. 28, compared to 548 head last week and 928 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. Decent run of sheep with slaughter ewes selling $1 to $2 lower. Feeder lambs sold mostly $5 to $8 higher with more numbers and quality on offer. Buyer attendance light with good demand. The supply consisted of approximately 33% slaughter ewes and bucks, 67% feeders. Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, 170 to 180 lbs., 62.50 to 65.50 (65.10). Utility and Good 1 to 2, 72 head, 149 lbs., 60.50; 7 head, 224 lbs., 60.50. Utility 1 to 2, 66 head, 130 lbs., 50.00.
