Denison feeder cattle auction report

The Denison Feeder Cattle Auction, Denison, Iowa, reported receipts of 2,567 head Jan. 28, compared to 1,733 head last week, according to the USDA-Iowa Department of Agriculture Market News, Des Moines, Iowa.

This was Denisons's calf and yearling sale. Compared to two weeks ago steers 500 to 650 pounds were $5 lower and 700 to 900 pounds were steady, with 750 to 800 pound steers $4 higher. Heifers 400 to 550 pounds were $5 lower and 550 to 800 pounds were steady. Moderate supply with good demand. The receipts included 59% steers and 41% heifers, with 68% weighing over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 19 head, 365 to 398 lbs., 118.00 to 125.00 (120.37); 405 to 435 lbs., 114.00 to 119.00 (117.19); 450 to 476 lbs., 114.50 to 120.25 (117.36); 505 to 545 lbs., 109.50 to 113.75 (111.53); 550 to 599 lbs., 107.00 to 113.00 (109.77); 604 to 645 lbs., 101.00 to 108.00 (105.13); 656 to 695 lbs., 97.00 to 105.25 (100.70); 706 to 745 lbs., 95.25 to 103.5 (98.75); 751 to 792 lbs., 97.75 to 100.50 (99.71); 829 to 849 lbs., 93.50 to 94.60 (94.40); 863 to 891 lbs., 90.00 to 93.75 (93.41). Medium frame 1, 19 head, 431 to 444 lbs., 103.50 to 112.00 (108.40); 500 to 548 lbs., 104.00 to 106.00 (105.19); 573 to 595 lbs., 96.00 to 105.00 (101.27).

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 19 head, 384 to 395 lbs., 105.00 to 113.00 (108.25); 16 head, 409 to 433 lbs., 101.50 to 110.50 (104.60); 453 to 499 lbs., 98.00 to 105.50 (103.22); 503 to 547 lbs., 96.00 to 101.50 (99.77); 550 to 571 lbs., 97.00 to 102.50 (99.38); 600 to 646 lbs., 90.00 to 96.50 (94.18); 656 to 698 lbs., 90.00 to 97.00 (93.94); 60 head, 664 lbs., 102.50 replacement; 709 to 730 lbs., 89.25 to 90.50 (89.90); 758 to 785 lbs., 85.75 to 91.25 (88.17); 808 to 809 lbs., 85.00 to 87.00 (86.55); 20 head, 858 to 876 lbs., 84.00 to 87.00 (85.94). Medium frame 1, 11 head, 536 to 545 lb.s., 90.00 to 93.00 (92.18); 555 to 592 lbs., 90.50 to 95.00 (92.66).
