Colorado feeder cattle summary

The Colorado Feeder Cattle Summary, Greeley, Colo., reported receipts of 6,435 head Jan. 29, compared to 11,725 head last week and 7,627 head last year, according to the USDA-Colorado Department of Agriculture Market News, Greeley, Colo.

Compared to last week, steer calves under 600 pounds were mostly $3 to $4 lower, over 600 pounds was steady to $1 higher. Heifer calves under 600 pounds unevenly steady with a higher undertone prevailing, over 600 pounds was steady to $1 higher. Feeder steers and heifers over 700 pounds were unevenly steady on comparable sales. Demand and market activity was moderate. The supply was made up of 50% feeder steers, 49% feeder heifers, the balance was feeder bulls, with nearly 45% of total feeder supply over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 305 to 345 lbs., 132.00 to 135.00; 350 to 395 lbs., 126.00 to 136.00; 405 to 450 lbs., 124.00 to 130.50; 450 to 495 lbs., 111.00 to 130.00, mostly 117.00 to 125.00; 500 to 545 lbs., 112.00 to 125.00; 550 to 595 lbs., 104.00 to 124.00, mostly 110.00 to 119.00; 600 to 645 lbs., 103.00 to 110.25, calves 99.50 to 104.50; 650 to 695 lbs., 95.00 to 104.75, calves 99.25 to 101.00; 700 to 745 lbs., 94.00 to 99.75; 755 to 790 lbs., 96.00 to 97.85; 800 to 845 lbs., 95.50 to 97.00; 855 to 870 lbs., 91.00 to 93.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 355 to 390 lbs., 115.00 to 125.00; 400 to 440 lbs., 113.50 to 118.00; 460 to 495 lbs., 109.00 to 119.00; 520 to 545 lbs., 116.25 to 116.50; 560 to 595 lbs., 102.50 to 113.50; 640 lbs., 100.25 to 100.75; 765 to 785 lbs., 87.25 to 94.00; 800 to 848 lbs., 90.50 to 92.00; 865 to 890 lbs., 87.50 to 88.50.
