Springfield livestock sales reportThe Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Mo., reported receipts of 1,730 head Feb. 3, compared to 1,953 head last week and 2,347 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to last week, steers under 800 pounds were $2 to $5 higher, over 800 pounds were not well tested, Holsteins were steady on a light test, heifers under 600 pounds were $1 to $3 higher, and over 600 pounds were steady. Demand was good, supply moderate. After coming through what has been a tough winter so far, cattle have flesh conditions that are favorable to buyers. A special wean-vac sale was held in conjunction with the regular feeder cattle sale. The feeder supply included 44% steers, 6% Holsteins, 43% heifers, 8% bulls, with 37% over 600 pounds.
