Springfield livestock sales report

The Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Mo., reported receipts of 1,730 head Feb. 3, compared to 1,953 head last week and 2,347 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo.

Compared to last week, steers under 800 pounds were $2 to $5 higher, over 800 pounds were not well tested, Holsteins were steady on a light test, heifers under 600 pounds were $1 to $3 higher, and over 600 pounds were steady. Demand was good, supply moderate. After coming through what has been a tough winter so far, cattle have flesh conditions that are favorable to buyers. A special wean-vac sale was held in conjunction with the regular feeder cattle sale. The feeder supply included 44% steers, 6% Holsteins, 43% heifers, 8% bulls, with 37% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 350 to 400 lbs., 129.00 to 131.50; 475 to 500 lbs., 111.00 to 122.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 102.00 to 117.00; 600 to 675 lbs., 100.50 to 109.00, 600 to 700 lbs., calves 93.00 to 105.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 93.00 to 103.25. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 118.00 to 124.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 106.00 to 116.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 95.00 to 108.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 92.50 to 100.00; package 768 lbs., 94.50; 850 to 875 lbs., 91.50 to 93.00; package 1018 lbs., 81.50. Medium and large frame 2, package 232 lbs., 112.00; package 497 lbs., thin 101.00; lot 556 lbs., 94.00; package 645 lbs., 93.00. Large frame 1, package 583 lbs., 104.50; package 642 lbs., 98.50; package 965 lbs., 88.00. Medium frame 3, package 628 lbs., 60.00; lot 728 lbs., 67.75.

Holsteins: Large frame 3, 550 to 575 lbs., 68.00 to 69.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 64.75 to 70.00; package 760 lbs., 65.00, package 797 lbs., thin 60.50; 850 to 900 lbs., 62.75 to 63.00, package thin 61.50.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, lot 397 lbs., 107.50; 400 to 500 lbs., 102.50 to 106.75; 500 to 600 lbs., 92.00 to 100.00; 650 to 700 lbs., 91.50 to 93.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 89.00 to 89.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 96.00 to 109.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 95.00 to 101.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 85.00 to 99.00; 600 to 675 lbs., 88.50 to 92.00, package calves 86.50; 700 to 775 lbs., 82.50 to 88.00. Medium and large frame 2, 425 to 450 lbs., 85.00 to 90.00, package thin 97.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 81.00 to 85.00; 600 to 650 lbs., few 80.00.
