Watertown cattle sales report

The South Dakota Livestock Sales, Watertown, S.D., reported receipts of 2,650 head Feb. 3, compared 1,650 head last week and 1,220 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared to last week, feeder steers were $1 to $3 higher and feeder heifers were $2 to $4 higher. Feeder steers made up 70% of the sale with feeder heifers making up the remaining 30%, with offerings over 600 pounds made up 82% of the run.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 503 to 541 lbs., 116.00 to 125.50 (119.53); 552 to 591 lbs., 112.00 to 116.50 (114.00); 606 to 645 lbs., 109.35 to 113.75 (110.32); 654 to 686 lbs., 102.75 to 105.90 (105.03); 702 to 749 lbs., 97.50 to 102.90 (100.47); 763 to 790 lbs., 96.00 to 97.75 (97.09); 800 to 839 lbs., 94.20 to 97.80 (96.46); 6 head, 857 lbs., 90.75; 49 head, 925 lbs., 92.50; 6 head, 968 lbs., 90.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 523 to 540 lbs., 110.50 to 111.00 (110.88); 577 to 589 lbs., 106.50 to 111.50 (108.89); 607 to 648 lbs., 100.50 to 107.75 (105.95); 37 head, 689 lbs., 101.75; 16 head, 711 lbs., 91.00. Medium 1 to 2, 5 head, 664 lbs., 73.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 474 to 499 lbs., 107.00 to 113.00 (110.00); 505 to 539 lbs., 105.00 to 107.00 (105.91); 574 to 593 lbs., 104.50 to 107.25 (105.78); 601 to 648 lbs., 95.75 to 101.80 (98.76); 16 head, 605 lbs., 107.00 replacement; 655 to 699 lbs., 93.00 to 96.75 (95.71); 40 head, 757 lbs., 92.25.
