OKC West livestock market report

The OKC West Livestock Market, El Reno, Okla, reported receipts of 729 head Feb. 3, compared to 6,555 head last week and 7,089 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, there was no comparison due to lack of a significant quantity of any one grade of cattle. The winter storm from last weekend made travel to and from pastures almost impossible with ice and snow followed by mud. Demand was good for the limited supply of feeder cattle and calves. Quality was mostly plain. The supply consisted of 73% over 600 pounds, 58% heifers. Slaughter cows and bulls had no comparison due to the limited supply. Packer demand was good for the limited supply. A total of 60 cows and bulls sold with 42% going to packers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, package 696 lbs., full 95.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 310 lbs., 124.00; package 583 lbs., 103.50; package 721 lbs., 97.75; package 788 lbs., 94.00. Medium and large frame 2, package 386 lbs., thin 117.00; 400 to 500 lbs., thin 109.00 to 117.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 103.50 to 104.50, package 501 lbs., thin 111.00; 600 700 lbs., 91.50 to 95.00; 750 to 775 lbs., 91.50 to 93.25.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, package 658 lbs., fleshy 87.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 302 lbs., thin 106.00; package 412 lbs., 97.00; package 454 lbs., 100.00; package 519 lbs., 94.50; 650 to 700 lbs., 92.00 to 93.50; package 704 lbs., 90.75. Medium and large frame 2, package 363 lbs., 103.00; 420 to 450 lbs., 95.00; package 485 lbs., thin 96.00; 500 to 550 lbs., thin 94.75 to 96.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 92.00 to 95.00; package 933 lbs., 84.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 13 head, 75 to 80% lean, 1175 to 1700 lbs., 52.50 to 53.00; high dressing, 53.50 to 57.50; low dressing, 46.00 to 51.00. Lean, 11 head, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1390 lbs., 48.00 to 52.50; low dressing, 41.00 to 44.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 11 head, 1350 to 1700 lbs., 58.50 to 61.50; low dressing, 53.50 to 58.50.
