McAlester livestock auction reportThe McAlester Union Livestock Market, McAlester, Okla., reported receipts of 560 head Feb. 2, compared to 1,965 head last week and 1,835 head last year, according to the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla. Compared to last week, stocker cattle and calf trends were not established as extremely muddy conditions from last week's storm limited cattle movement. There were limited buyers as many area markets were closed due to weather. Cattle were in thin to medium flesh. Very few attractive cattle were in trade. Receipts included 10% over 600 pounds with 49% heifers. Slaughter cows were $2 to $4 higher. Slaughter bulls were steady. Good attendance of buyers and active on trade. A total of 135 cows and bulls sold with 55% going to packers.
