Tulia livestock sales report

The Tulia Livestock Auction, Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 409 head Feb. 1, compared to 3,420 head last week and 2,110 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture Market News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, due to recent weather events and current road conditions, receipts were not enough for an accurate comparison. Trade and demand were very light. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400- to 850-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up less than 1% of the offering and feeders 99%. The feeder supply included 73% steers and 27% heifers, with nearly 42% of the run over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, lot 485 lbs., 105.00; package 621 lbs., 95.25; 700 to 750 lbs., 94.50; package 834 lbs., 90.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 338 lbs., 119.00; lot 416 lbs., 100.50, lot 492 lbs., 104.25; 500 to 600 lbs., 93.50 to 100.00; package 638 lbs., 88.50.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, package 298 lbs., 93.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 90.00 to 94.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 90.00 to 91.75; package 710 lbs., 80.00; lot 833 lbs., 72.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, lot 483 lbs., 73.50; package 685 lbs., 78.00.

Slaughter cows: Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 37.25; low dressing, 25.00.
