Ft. Smith livestock sales reportThe Ft. Smith Livestock, Ft. Smith, Ark., reported receipts of 80 head Feb. 1, compared to 710 head last week and 520 head last year, according to the Arkansas Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Little Rock, Ark. Compared to last week, there were not enough on offer for an accurate price test. The supply included 32 feeder calves, 20 feeder yearlings, 13 replacement cows, 11 slaughter cows, 1 slaughter bull; and 3 replacement bulls. The feeder supply consisted of about 50% English breed and English crosses, 25% exotic breed and exotic crosses, 25% Brahman and Brahman crosses, and 0% Holsteins and other dairy breeds. The feeder supply included about 60% steers and bulls with 40% heifers. Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 44.00 to 48.50; high dressing, 49.00 to 53.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1300 lbs., 41.00 to 45.00; high dressing, 46.00 to 50.00; low dressing, 36.00 to 40.00. Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1000 to 2100 lbs., 58.50. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 480 to 495 lbs., 99.00 to 101.00 (100.02). Medium and large frame 2 345 to 345 lbs., 108.00 (108.00); 355 to 395 lbs., 106.00 to 110.00 (108.22); 455 to 475 lbs., 93.00 to 96.00 (94.65); 570 to 590 lbs., 89.00 to 94.00 (91.60). Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 500 to 515 lbs., 88.00 to 91.00 (89.52). Medium and large frame 2, 300 to 325 lbs., 90.00 to 94.00 (91.92); 500 to 540 lbs., 77.00 to 85.00 (80.85). Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 4+ years old, 700 to 1100 lbs., open cows 41.00 to 51.00; 7+ years old, 850 to 1050 lbs., third stage 35.00 to 46.00.
