St. Onge livestock sales reportThe St. Onge Livestock Sales Co., Ltd., St. Onge, S.D., reported receipts of 625 head Jan. 29, compared to 2,800 head last week, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. No accurate comparison on feeder cattle due to lack of feeders on offer. Nice run of bred cows with a strong market on broken mouth cows. Slaughter cows and bulls sold mostly $3 to $4 higher. The supply consisted of approximately 72% bred cows, 28% slaughter cattle. Buyer attendance good with good demand for bred cattle. Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1413 to 1575 lbs., 50.00 to 53.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1075 to 1560 lbs., 49.50 to 52.50; low dressing, 44.00 to 48.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 950 to 1240 lbs., 39.00 to 42.50. Bred cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, Calve March to April, bred black, 35 head, heifers, 885 to 963 lbs., Red Angus 1025.00 to 1110.00; 48 head, heifers, 831 to 887 lbs., black 850.00 to 935.00; 52 head, 3 to 5 years old, 1252 to 1312 lbs., black 935.00 to 1135.00; 7 head, solids, 1432 lbs., black 1025.00; 50 head, solid to short solid, 1262 to 1495 lbs., black 775.00 to 885.00; 30 head, broken, 1110 to 1406 lbs., black 660.00 to 750.00; 30 head, broken, 1425 to 1578 lbs., black 725.00 to 785.00; 17 head, broken, 1552 lbs., black 800.00.
