High Plains weighted average direct slaughter cattle sales for the week ending Jan. 31 totaled 158,079 head, compared to 133,074 head last week and 184,513 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, St. Joseph, Mo. The report was based on sales in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Minnesota feedlots. Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 3,782 head, 1,150 to 1,497 lbs., 81.50 to 85.00 (83.55 65 to 80% Choice, 10,979 head, 1,240 to 1,520 lbs., 81.50 to 86.00 (83.87); 35 to 65% Choice, 27,003 head, 1,135 to 1,475 lbs., 82.50 to 86.00 (84.77). 0 to 35% Choice, 214 head, 1,175 to 1,325 lbs., 83.50 to 85.00 (84.13).
