Texas AgriLife Extension Service names new Lampasas County agentTexas Effective Jan. 1, Karen DeZarn became the new Texas AgriLife Extension Service agent for family and consumer sciences in Lampasas County. The announcement was made by Lampasas County Judge Wayne Boultinghouse and Scott Durham, AgriLife Extension administrator at San Angelo. "We are very happy that Karen has accepted the Lampasas County position," Durham said. "She brings to the position a wealth of Extension-related expertise that can only be of benefit to this diverse county." DeZarn holds both bachelor's and master's degrees in vocational home economics education from Purdue University. She has been an administrator in Extension consumer and family sciences since 2002. DeZarn began working with Extension in 1993 in Indiana where she held a number of positions in Pulaski, Starke and Porter counties. Those positions included: 4-H youth development and consumer and family sciences educator, county Extension director, consumer and family sciences educator and leadership and community development educator. Prior to her Extension work, she held positions in Indiana and Florida as a caseworker and supervisor in child welfare, as a family and consumer sciences teacher, and as an instructor at a developmental center and Job Corp facility.
