Winter No Till Conference set for March 17 in Ord

Nebraska

Mark Sintek, resource conservationist with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service in Ord, announced that there will be a Winter No Till Conference held March 17 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Veterans Club in Ord, Neb. The conference is free and open to all with a free lunch provided and prepared by the Ord FFA. You do not have to be a farmer to attend this event. If you can't attend the whole day, stop in or leave when needed.

Speakers include Ray Ward, Ph.D., who will talk about using carbon as a nutrient. Paul Jasa will discuss uniformity and how you get it in adjusting your planter. Kathy Buttle will demonstrate how erosion starts and how it's stopped by using a rainfall simulator; if you've never seen this rainfall simulator, you are in for a treat. Mark Watson will talk about No Till and water savings. Keith Burns will discuss cover crops and forage cocktails.

Case IH and John Deere will have planters on-site. Several area businesses will have booths set up providing information about their products. Thanks to all the sponsors committed to this conference. If you are interested in sponsoring part of this event, call Mark at 308-728-3781 ext. 109.
