Missouri corn scholarship deadline approaching

Missouri

Agriculture students throughout Missouri have until Feb. 12 to submit their applications for 2010 Missouri Corn Scholarships. High school and college students interested in a career in agronomy or other agriculture-related field can apply for one of ten $750 scholarships sponsored by the Missouri Corn Growers Association and the Missouri Corn Merchandising Council.

Missouri Corn Scholarship applications are available for download from Missouri Corn Online or by calling 800-827-4181. Students must submit an application form, official high school or college transcript and at least one letter of recommendation to the Missouri Corn office. Applications must be postmarked by Feb. 12 to be considered eligible for the scholarships. Applications received by fax or e-mail will not be submitted to the Missouri Corn Scholarship Committee for review.

College applicants must also be Missouri residents from a Missouri farm or rural area and currently a junior enrolled in a Missouri four-year college or university majoring in agronomy or an agriculture-related field. The scholarship funds will apply toward the senior year of expenses for college winners.

Applications will be reviewed by the Missouri Corn Scholarship Committee, and recipients will be notified by mail on or before April 15. To learn more about Missouri Corn programs, please visit www.mocorn.org.
