Iowa investigates case of cattle abuse

MONTEZUMA, Iowa (AP)--Authorities are looking for suspects in a case of cattle abuse in Poweshiek County in eastern Iowa.

The sheriff's office says deputies found 17 cows injured at the Montezuma Sales Company in Montezuma on Jan. 6. Officials say the animals were attacked with sharp objects that caused severe cuts.

Authorities say three cows had to be euthanized. The other 14 were treated by a veterinarian.

The case remains under investigation.
