(Jan 27)--Did you ever get started on the wrong foot early in the day? That's the way it has been this morning, which is Wednesday, and I evidently forgot I had another foot, so I just stayed on the wrong one all day. It hasn't been a bad day. I've had a lot worse. In fact, with this weather coming in on Thursday and Friday, something tells me those days will be worse.

I pretty much have a routine every morning. On Monday morning I get the kids up--get them something to eat and then record on six radio stations for the sale barn. Tuesday morning we start our sale. Wednesday I fax this article to HPJ and Thursday record again on six radio stations and on Friday morning we start our sale early again.

Each morning, I get the kids up--get them to school and then try to put out any fires that might be burning at the sale barn or outside cattle problems. Well, this afternoon, I finally realized I hadn't written this little bit of bull. So, I am playing catch up.

Sometimes on Saturday evening, I might shut my phone off to try to regain my sanity and get ready for another week.

The weather forecasters on TV and the radio and also at the local coffee shop all seem to think this weather is going to get bad. Some say rain, which we need. Then ice, which we do not need. And then snow. But every negative person who knows how much I hate winter has reminded me all day long that we are also going to have lots of wind. And wind and snow don't seem to mix that well. But I guess we will take what we get. I haven't started cussing yet, but the first flake hasn't fallen either. We are getting very dry, so that's the reason I hadn't started cussing the snow yet.

A friend of mine and I eat dinner at the same table several times a week and try to aggravate or kid each other a lot. We were talking about funerals. He said, "I think for my funeral I am going to request a private service." I quickly spoke up and said, "I imagine most people will think it was, whether it was or not." This older cowboy friend came in the coffee shop again this morning. Someone asked, "How are you doing?" He said, "Better." And in a lower tone, he said, "Better than nothing." Another friend said his doctor suggested he get his teeth fixed, as bad cavities might cause a heart attack. He said, "I did. Then I got the bill and that almost caused a heart attack."
