Corn sees modest gainsCorn had modest gains with wheat and soybeans closing lower, according to the National Grain Market Summary Jan. 25. Wheat closed slightly lower on late selling. Corn was supported by outside market support from higher crude oil, gold and stock market closing higher. Soybeans closed lower on selling with also the thought of large supplies of soybeans coming to market over the next several thoughts. Grains inspected for export for week ending Jan. 21: Wheat totaled 16.9 million bushels, up 7.3 million bushels; corn 20.7 million bushels, down 10.1 million bushels; sorghum 2.8 million, down 100 thousand bushels and soybeans 42.2 million bushels, down 5.0 million bushels compared to a week ago. Year to date: Wheat totaled 528.1 down 186.1 million; corn 620.7 million down 400 thousand; sorghum 67.6 up 3.8 million, and soybeans 884.5 up 255.4 million. Crop marketing years begin June 1 for wheat and Sept. 1 for corn, sorghum, and soybeans. In the futures close, Kansas City March wheat was $5.01, down 1 cent. Terminal wheat bids, paid for truck delivery, included Kansas City, $4.33 to $4.36, up 1 to down 1 cent; Minneapolis, $5.42 1/4, down 1/4 cent; Portland, $4.70 to $4.85, up 10 cents to unchanged; St. Louis, $4.01, unchanged. Terminal corn bids, U.S. No. 2 yellow, price paid for truck deliver, included: Kansas City, $3.43 to $3.48, up 3 cents; Minneapolis, $3.19 3/4, up 3 cents; southern Iowa, $3.30 3/4 to $3.35 3/4, up 3 to 6 cents; Omaha, $3.41 to $3.47, up 3 to 5 cents. Terminal soybean bids, U.S. No. 1, price paid for truck delivery, included: Kansas City, $9.21 to $9.23, down 11 cents; Minneapolis, no bids; southern Iowa, $8.93 to $9.05 1/2, no change; central Illinois processors, $9.51 1/2 to $9.61 1/2. Kansas City wheat prices Jan. 25, spot, fob track, included: No. 1 hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, $4.72 1/2 to $5.46 1/2, down 1 1/2 cents; 12% protein, $5.33 1/2 to $5.50 1/2, down 1 1/2 cents; 13% protein, $5.35 1/2 to $5.79 1/2, down 1 1/2 cents; 14% protein, $5.64 1/2 to $5.79 1/2, down 1 1/2 cents. U.S. No. 2 soft red winter wheat was $4.44 1/2 to $5.39 1/2, down 1 1/2 cents. U.S. No. 2 white corn was $3.80 to $3.84, unchanged.
