CSU offers pesticide applicators workshop

Colorado

Private pesticide applicators in Colorado must be licensed by the Colorado Department of Agriculture before they may purchase or apply restricted use pesticides. Private and Commercial Applicators are required to attend educational workshops to collect continuing education credits every three years before licenses can be renewed.

Colorado State University Prowers County Extension is offering a Private and Commercial Pesticide Applicators Workshop to provide all private and commercial licensed pesticide applicators the opportunity to receive the CECs required to maintain certification. CECs are only available for individuals who already have a pesticide application license from the Colorado Department of Agriculture. CECs for commercial applicators will be offered for those who reside in Colorado.

The workshop will be held Feb. 23 at the Prowers County Annex Mezzanine in Lamar, Colo. The morning session meets all CEC requirements for private pesticide applicators licensed with the CDA. The morning session will meet the required core credits, and the afternoon session fulfills ag credits for commercial pesticide applicators requiring Ag Insect Control, Ag Plant Disease Control, and Ag Weed Control.

Registration is $30 for private applicators (morning session, including lunch). Registration is $70 (all day, including lunch) for commercial applicators requiring core credits plus Ag categories. The agenda and program brochure with mail-in-registration are now available online at www.prowerscounty.net or by calling 719-336-7734. Registration is limited to 75 participants.
