Arson suspected in several rural fires

ENID, Okla. (AP)--Garfield County authorities say arson is suspected in a series of property and hay bale fires this week.

No injuries were reported.

Undersheriff Jerry Niles says the first fire was reported about 9 p.m. Aug. 12 and the last about 9:30 p.m. Niles said investigators are still trying to determine the exact number of fires.

Niles says the fires destroyed hay bales, abandoned buildings, a tractor and farm truck northeast of Enid. He says at least two other fires were reported in Grant County to the north.

Niles says the state Fire Marshals Office has sent an investigator to the area.
