Casper best place to live like cowboy

CASPER, Wyo. (AP)--The April issue of Men's Journal has branded Casper as "America's Best Place to Live Like a Cowboy.''

The magazine says Casper's cowboy attributes included prairie with cattle, a few good bars, outdoor activities, low taxes and a downtown store with nine floors devoted to Western wear.

It says Casper is a "working stiff's town'' with cowboys, oil workers, beer and guns. But it also is tolerant to anyone who shares an affinity for open land and a do-as-you-please way of life.

Aaron McCreight of the Casper Area Convention and Visitors Bureau says Casper markets itself more as a hot spot for outdoor adventure, but it does host cowboy events such as the College National Finals Rodeo.
