North Arkansas livestock auction report

The North Arkansas Livestock, Green Forest, Ark., reported receipts of 1,334 head Sept. 23, compared to 1,711 head last week and 1,468 head last year, according to the Arkansas Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Little Rock, Ark.

Compared to last week, slaughter cows were steady to $1 higher. Slaughter bulls were steady. Feeder steers were steady to $3 lower, instances were $6 lower on some 550- to 650-pound calves. Feeder heifers were steady to $3 lower. The supply included about 944 feeder calves, 200 feeder yearlings, 65 replacement cows, 100 slaughter cows, and 25 slaughter bulls. The feeder supply included 37% steers, 46% heifers, and 17% bulls, with nearly 21% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 43.00 to 45.50; high dressing, 46.00 to 48.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1400 lbs., 41.00 to 46.00; high dressing, 46.50 to 50.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1300 lbs., 49.50 to 44.50; high dressing, 45.00 to 48.50; low dressing, 30.00 to 38.50. Light, 85 to 92% lean, 700 to 950 lbs., 30.00 to 38.00; low dressing, 21.00 to 29.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1000 to 2100 lbs., 53.50 to 57.75; high dressing, 58.00 to 61.50; low dressing, 43.00 to 50.50.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 352 to 365 lbs., 112.00 to 119.00 (113.51); 400 to 435 lbs., 102.00 to 114.00 (109.66); 465 to 496 lbs., 95.00 to 105.00 (100.84); 500 to 549 lbs., 98.00 to 102.50 (100.69); 550 to 590 lbs., 92.00 to 102.00 (97.48); 620 to 625 lbs., 94.00 to 95.00 (94.80); 668 to 680 lbs., 92.00 to 96.50 (95.34); 720 to 724 lbs., 90.50 to 92.50 (91.16).
