Goldthwaite sheep sales report

The Mills County Commission Co., Golthwaite, Texas, Sept. 18, reported receipts of 2,545 head of sheep and goats, compared to 1,936 head last week and 1,893 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, stock and feeder lambs were not tested. Light slaughter lambs were $5 to $10 higher, heavy weights $3 to $5 higher. Stock and feeder goats were $3 to $5 higher. Slaughter goats were $3 to $5 higher. Demand was good. The supply included around 40% sheep including nearly 500 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified.

Stock and feeder: Dorper ewes, 80 to 125 lbs., 42.00 to 60.00. Barbados ewes, 70 to 100 lbs., 35.00 to 46.00. Barbados bucks, 170.00 to 300.00 per head. Stock bucks, 135 to 165 lbs., 60.00.

Slaughter lambs: Few Prime, 90 to 110 lbs., 90.00 to 100.00. Choice, 90 to 110 lbs., 85.00 to 90.00. Good and Choice 1 to 3, 40 to 85 lbs., 110.00 to 125.00, few to 127.00. Good, 40 to 85 lbs., 95.00 to 110.00. Slaughter ewes, Good 2 to 3, fleshy, few 140 lbs., 28.00. Utility 1 to 3, Medium fleshy, 100 to 150 lbs., 35.00 to 45.00. Slaughter bucks, 115 to 230 lbs., 30.00 to 53.00. Barbados, ewes, few 70 lbs., 46.00.

Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, 40 to 60 lbs., 110.00 to 121.00, few to 124.00, 60 to 80 lbs., 110.00 to 122.00. Selection 2, 40 to 60 lbs., 100.00 to 110.00, 60 to 80 lbs., 96.00 to 112.00. Nannies, 80 to 130 lbs., 35.00 to 50.00. Billies, 90 to 250 lbs., 75.00 to 88.00, few light weights 91.00 to 102.00. Mutton, Selection 1, 90 to 135 lbs., 87.00 to 115.00.

Replacement goats: Kids, Selection 1, 40 to 70 lbs., fancy 120.00 to 160.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 50.00 to 79.00.

Stock and feeder goats: 35 to 45 lbs., 95.00 to 111.00.
