Sioux Falls sheep sales reportThe Sioux Falls sheep auction, Sioux Falls, S.D., Sept. 22, reported receipts of 834 head of sheep and goats, compared to 737 head last week and 1,104 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, slaughter lambs sold $1 to $2 higher. Slaughter ewes were too few last week for a trend to be established, however, a higher undertone was noted on good and cull ewes while a lower undertone was noted on the Utility ewes. Also, feeder lambs were too few last week to show a trend. Receipts included about 42% slaughter lambs, 27% slaughter ewes, 26% feeder lambs and the balance was mostly bucks. Demand was good for slaughter lambs and moderate for the rest of the offering. Slaughter lambs: Shorn, Choice and Prime 2 to 3, 122 to 128 lbs., 93.00 to 95.50 (95.03). Wooled, Choice and Prime 2 to 3, 120 to 122 lbs., 94.50 to 95.00 (94.92); 130 to 142 lbs., 94.50 to 95.75 (95.12). Wooled, Choice 1 to 2, 8 head, 130 to 131 lbs., 90.00 to 92.50 (91.25). Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, fleshy, 18 head, 151 lbs., 33.00; 6 head, 164 to 170 lbs., 33.00 to 35.00 (33.68). Good 2 to 4, fleshy, 6 head, 164 lbs., 43.00. Good 3 to 4, fleshy, 8 head, 188 lbs., 35.00; 4 head, 235 lbs., 31.00. Utility 1 to 2, Medium flesh, 136 to 153 lbs., 21.00 to 25.00 (21.89); 4 head, 160 lbs., 24.00.
