Pratt livestock auction report

Pratt Livestock Sales Inc., Pratt, Kan., reported receipts of 2,422 head Sept. 17, compared to 2,236 head last week and 2,642 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared to last week, steers under 800 pounds were steady on a light test, 800 to 900 pounds were $4 to $5 lower, over 900 pounds were steady to $1 lower. Heifers on a light test were steady to firm. Slaughter cows were $1 to $2 lower, slaughter bulls were $2 to $4 lower on a very light test. Demand was good. Receipts included 93% 600 pounds and over, 4% 600 pounds and under, 3% slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 60% steers and 40% heifers.

Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 750 to 800 lbs., 92.25 to 94.25 (93.31) 800 to 850 lbs., 91.50 to 95.25; (94.00); 850 to 900 lbs., 90.60 to 93.10 (91.51); 900 to 950 lbs., 89.00 to 91.10 (90.19); 950 to 1000 lbs., 88.50 to 88.60 (88.53); 1000 to 1041 lbs., 87.00 to 87.50 (87.17). Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, average dressing, 54.00 to 56.00; high dressing, individual 61.00; low dressing, 49.50 to 52.00.
