HURON, S.D. (AP)--State lawmakers are pairing up with youth ranchers at the State Fair for the first annual Legislative Beef Show.
The afternoon event will team 18 state legislators with a youth beef exhibitor from their districts to compete in a friendly cattle showmanship competition.
The youth partners will "fit'' the animals, prepare them for the competition and offer the legislators a crash course in beef cattle showmanship.
The top legislative contestant will receive a traveling trophy, and the winning youth partner will receive a prize.
