Colorado Farm Bureau to host political candidate workshopColorado The Colorado Farm Bureau will be hosting a Candidate School Oct. 20 and 21, at the CFB Center in Centennial. The purpose of the school is to help Farm Bureau leaders as well as current and other potential candidates who are interested in running for public office execute a successful political campaign. The school is open to anyone interested in seeking public office, regardless of whether they are a first-time candidate or veteran office holder. "This campaign school is perfect for anyone running for their local school board, city council, county commission, state-wide office or even federal office," said State Representative Jerry Sonnenberg, Candidate School graduate. "The workshop was very beneficial to me and my campaign." The Campaign Management Training Seminar was developed by the American Farm Bureau Federation with input from political consultants and staff from both political parties. Topics include: successfully announcing candidacy, selecting a campaign theme and key issues, identifying and targeting voters, overall campaign structure, volunteer recruitment and coordination, budget preparation, fund raising, and working with the media. There will be a fee for enrollment to cover the costs of materials, meals and other miscellaneous expenses. To allow for individual attention and involvement, the seminar will be limited to 30 students. The registration deadline is Oct. 1.
