AGCO adds five new RoGator models while Spra-Coupe goes for gold

AGCO's Application Equipment Division showed off its newest products during a recent media launch day at the division's main plant at Jackson, Minn.

First, AGCO debuted five new models of the company's RoGator high-clearance, post-emergence applicator. While RoGator's name has been nearly synonymous with the custom application industry, these new models are being considered by company brass as the first in their lineup to be truly attractive to large, professional growers looking to shave time off busy workdays.

The new models feature larger-capacity tanks, top-notch visibility on the road and in the field, plus easier access to the cab and the convenience of a new front-load liquid system.

Meeting needs of both retailers and producers who are growing in farm size, the new models offer greater capacity with 900-, 1,100- and 1,300-gallon liquid systems and added horsepower.

The 2010 RoGator lineup includes model 984H with 250 gross horsepower, equipped with a 900-gallon tank; the model 984 at 275 gross horsepower and a 900-gallon tank; the 1184 and 1184H with 275 gross horsepower and an 1,100-gallon tank; and the new 1386 featuring 311 gross horsepower and the industry's largest tank at 1,300 gallons. Both the 1184 and 1386 may also be equipped with a dry spinner system.

RoGator H models feature leaf-spring suspension while suspension on the 984, 1184 and 1386 is provided by an air-spring system. All models continue to feature AGCO's exclusive "C" channel frame for greater durability and flexibility to keep all four wheels on the ground at all times for better traction, fuel economy and field performance.

"RoGator has long been the preferred machine for custom applicators because of its quality, durability and accuracy in the field. With the newly designed front entry and lowered boom mounts which really optimize visibility in the field and on the road, RoGator continues to set the bar in the industry for innovation and efficiency," Mark Sharitz, director of marketing for the AGCO Application Equipment Division, said. "We think that's why professional producers are turning to RoGator for the same reasons."

The ownership experience of the 2010 RoGator's front entry design begins with what likely will be a favorite new feature: ingress to the cab. There's a fold-down ladder with an easy first step, a friendly angle of ascent, wide-set handrails, and a wide walkway maximized at the cab side to allow what AGCO officials say is the widest cab door opening in its class. Two different walkway treads provide secure footing along with large tread holes for exceptional visibility to the left front wheel.

Front entry design also makes possible a new and more convenient optional front-fill liquid system featuring larger fresh water and hand rinse tanks, faster reloading and reloading access to a nurse truck without folding in sprayer booms.

Lowered boom mounts and a lowered tank saddle, as well as off-cab rear-view mirror mountings, mean the already unparalleled panoramic view of the six-post Advanced Application Cab is now even better--both in the field and on the road. The RoGator cab also has been given a thicker, more soundproof floor mat, adding to the quiet inside comfort.

The boom mount system has been increased in size and re-engineered, realizing even faster boom-fold cycle time. The wiring systems, plumbing and hose routing have been streamlined, giving the RoGator a clean underside. With this new routing, the RoGator boom plumbing maintains a +/- 1 PSI variance across the boom ensuring even coverage across the entire field.

"Improvements to our electrical mountings and connections enhance machine life and minimize costly down time. Both custom applicators and professional growers will want to check out the new RoGator," adds Sharitz.

What's noticeable across the entire line of AGCO's application equipment is a slightly different color scheme, reflecting how the line is now sold at Caterpillar dealers offering AGCO Challenger equipment.

That includes AGCO's Spra-Coupe line replacing the white color scheme Spra-Coupe owners have been familiar with since the brand's debut in1964 with Cat Challenger yellow.
