Rural dialogues project adds additional townWyoming Kaycee has been added to the roster of towns that are providing information about understanding and strengthening Wyoming's rural communities and agriculture. Community Dialogues for Rural Wyoming is a pilot program that has hosted meetings in Baggs, Boulder and Shoshoni. The program will host its last two meetings the end of August in Lusk and Kaycee. Sponsored by the Wyoming Stock Growers Association and EnCana Oil and Gas, the program was created as a compliment to the recent Governor's conference on "Building the Wyoming We Want." This conference found that Wyomingites overwhelmingly value the state's agriculturists. The Community Dialogues for Rural Wyoming project was shaped to assess how Wyoming can sustain this important industry and rural communities. "We want to encourage rural community members and leaders to be proactive about their futures," Wyoming Stock Growers Executive Vice President Jim Magagna said. "Who will determine our futures if we don't do it ourselves?" The project strives to engage a younger generation of agriculturists, motivate local leadership, identify indicators of healthy or at-risk rural communities and discuss topics of common ground between agriculture and other natural resource uses. The meetings are seeking agriculturists, community leaders, emerging leaders and interested members of each community to participate in the discussions. Participants will have the unique opportunity to help legislative, regulatory and research initiatives pertaining to strengthening rural communities and sustaining agriculture.
