AdvertisementAgrAbility to host agricultural rehabilitation workshopOklahoma Physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, occupational therapists, certified occupational therapist assistants and rehabilitation counselors who want to help Oklahoma farmers and ranchers continue their way of life should plan to attend the Rehabilitating Oklahoma Farmers and Ranchers Workshop Oct. 23 and 24. The workshop will take place at the Seretean Wellness Center on the Oklahoma State University campus in Stillwater. Registration will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Early bird registration is offered at a reduced rate of $115 and is due by Sept. 11. The deadline for standard registration is Sept. 30 at a cost of $125. The workshop fee includes handouts, certificate of attendance, break refreshments, breakfast and a box lunch on Saturday. The two-day workshop will educate rehabilitation professionals on the life-changing accidents that can happen on the farm or ranch. Attendees will be introduced to Oklahoma farm culture, the challenges of farming with a disability and how assistive technology can bridge the gap of returning to farming and ranching with a disability or impairment. "Each year the conference has been offered, the participants report the course objectives are met and the overall assessment of the conference is that it's highly beneficial to therapists," said Millee Jorge, dean of physical therapy, Langston University. Physical therapists, occupational therapists and rehabilitation counselors can earn CEU's while gaining an understanding of AgrAbility. Participants will also receive hands-on experience at the OSU Agronomy Farm and Willard Sparks Beef Research Center.
