Springfield livestock auction reportThe Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Mo., reported receipts of 2,171 head Oct. 21, compared to 1,570 head last week and 1,591 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to last week, steer calves under 550 pounds were $5 to $10 higher, steers over 550 pounds were $2 to $5 higher, Holsteins under 800 pounds were $1 to $3 higher, over 800 pounds were $2 to $4 lower, heifer calves under 500 pounds were $3 to $5 higher, over 500 pounds were steady to $3 higher. Demand was moderate to good, supply moderate. The feeder supply included 41% steers, 12% Holsteins, 37% heifers, 10% bulls, with 43% over 600 pounds.
