Springfield livestock auction report

The Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Mo., reported receipts of 2,171 head Oct. 21, compared to 1,570 head last week and 1,591 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo.

Compared to last week, steer calves under 550 pounds were $5 to $10 higher, steers over 550 pounds were $2 to $5 higher, Holsteins under 800 pounds were $1 to $3 higher, over 800 pounds were $2 to $4 lower, heifer calves under 500 pounds were $3 to $5 higher, over 500 pounds were steady to $3 higher. Demand was moderate to good, supply moderate. The feeder supply included 41% steers, 12% Holsteins, 37% heifers, 10% bulls, with 43% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, package 267 lbs., 117.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 112.00 to 126.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 113.00 to 118.00, 450 to 500 lbs., 100.00 to 109.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 90.00 to 106.00, package 513 lbs., thin 111.00; 600 to 650 lbs., 91.00 to 102.00, calves 87.00 to 93.00; 725 to 800 lbs., 87.50 to 95.50; 800 to 850 lbs., 86.50 to 91.00; package 968 lbs., 87.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 350 to 400 lbs., 101.00 to 107.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 93.00 to 107.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 85.00 to 101.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 85.50 to 93.50, calves 84.00 to 87.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 82.00 to 91.00; 800 to 825 lbs., 80.00 to 89.00; package 929 lbs., 86.50. Large frame 1, 400 to 500 lbs., 93.00 to 105.00; package 584 lbs., 93.00; 600 to 675 lbs., 88.00 to 91.00, package calves 84.00; package 964 lbs., 86.00; package 1033 lbs., 74.50.

Holsteins: Large frame 3, 325 to 375 lbs., 86.00 to 87.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 75.50 to 78.00, package fleshy 65.00; package 505 lbs., fleshy 60.00, 550 to 600 lbs., 67.50 to 75.00; 600 to 675 lbs., 65.00 to 68.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 60.00 to 66.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 60.00 to 63.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, package 252 lbs., 94.00; 350 to 400 lbs., 100.00 to 101.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 90.00 to 103.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 82.00 to 88.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 80.00 to 89.00, replacements 87.00 to 91.00, package calves 79.00; 700 to 775 lbs., 84.00 to 89.50; lot 841 lbs., 82.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 390 lbs., 90.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 80.00 to 88.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 80.00 to 88.50; 600 to 675 lbs., 82.00 to 85.00, package thin 86.00, calves 78.00 to 79.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 83.00 to 85.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 74.00 to 79.00.
