North Arkansas livestock auctionThe North Arkansas Livestock, Green Forest, Ark., reported receipts of 1,032 head Oct. 21, compared to 649 head last week and 886 head last year, according to the Arkansas Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Little Rock, Ark. Compared to last week, slaughter cows were weak to $1 lower. Slaughter bulls were steady. Feeder steers were mixed, under 450 pounds mostly steady to $1 lower, over 450 pounds were $1 to $2 higher. Feeder heifers under 550 pounds were $1 to $4 lower, over 550 pounds were $1 to $2 higher. The supply included about 625 feeder calves, 240 feeder yearlings, 45 replacement cows, 107 slaughter cows, and 20 slaughter bulls. The feeder supply included 40% steers, 34% heifers, and 25% bulls, with nearly 30% of the run over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 40.00 to 42.75; high dressing, 43.75 to 46.25. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1400 lbs., 39.00 to 43.00; high dressing, 43.50 to 46.25.
