Aberdeen cattle sales report

The Hub City Livestock Auction, Aberdeen, S.D., reported receipts of 3,468 head Oct. 21, compared to 6,406 head last week and 3,769 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and feeder heifers were steady to $1 higher. There was no comparison on spring calves this week due to the wet weather. There was good to very good demand on feeder cattle with good demand on spring calves with fall shots. Receipts were 70% steers, 30% heifers, with 95% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 451 to 457 lbs., 110.50 to 113.00 (112.06); 17 head, 541 lbs., 101.00; 33 head, 555 lbs., 104.00; 10 head, 618 lbs., 96.00 calves; 830 to 841 lbs., 93.50 to 96.00 (95.81); 862 to 898 lbs., 93.25 to 94.50 (93.92); 143 head, 870 lbs., 90.40 fleshy; 905 to 947 lbs., 90.25 to 95.00 (93.71); 58 head, 983 lbs., 89.10); 13 head, 972 lbs., 88.00 fleshy; 25 head, 994 lbs., 87.75 full; 1001 to 1016 lbs., 86.60 to 89.10 (87.97). Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 15 head, 549 lbs., 90.50; 14 head, 615 lbs., 91.00; 17 head, 702 to 723 lbs., 90.00 to 93.50 (92.29); 754 to 761 lbs., 94.25 to 95.00 (94.54). Large frame 1, 1074 to 1094 lbs., 82.50 to 83.60 (83.16); 33 head, 1100 lbs., 83.20. Large frame 2, 8 head, 829 lbs., 64.50.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 23 head, 485 lbs., 97.50; 22 head, 692 lbs., 89.75; 11 head, 745 lbs., 89.50; 50 head, 741 lbs., 95.00 fancy; 73 head, 795 lbs., 92.80 fancy; 814 to 848 lbs., 86.75 to 88.10 (88.02); 959 to 979 lbs., 86.00; 54 head, 1049 lbs., 81.90. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 10 head, 518 lbs., 83.00; 15 head, 611 to 624 lbs., 79.50 to 85.50 (83.47); 10 head, 682 lbs., 76.00. Large frame 1, 1067 to 1094 lbs., 81.90 to 82.10 (82.05); 1112 to 1128 lbs., 81.50 to 81.60 (81.58); 50 head, 1160 lbs., 81.50.
