Ericson cattle auction reportThe Ericson Spalding Livestock Auction, Ericson, Neb., reported receipts of 2,187 head Oct. 17, compared to 1,790 head last week and 1,000 head last year, according to the USDA-Nebraska Department of Agriculture Market News, Kearney, Neb. Compared with last week, based on a limited test of calf offerings, steers and heifers trended mostly steady with a lower undertone. There were not enough comparable yearling offerings to establish a trend. Demand was moderate to good with some Internet activity and moderate trade activity. The total receipts consisted of 60% steers and 40% heifers, with 25% of total offerings weighing over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 5 head, 391 lbs., 117.00; 409 to 419 lbs., 114.75 to 118.00 (116.97); 468 to 493 lbs., 105.00 to 112.50 (110.70); 502 to 542 lbs., 103.50 to 112.00 (107.80); 565 to 598 lbs., 96.50 to 104.00 (101.23); 601 to 636 lbs., 95.50 to 98.00 (97.29); 652 to 697 lbs., 97.00 to 100.50 (98.46); 736 to 742 lbs., 95.75 to 100.25 (98.04); 751 to 763 lbs., 92.00 to 99.25 (95.42); 6 head, 823 lbs., 95.25; 10 head, 876 lbs., 88.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 19 head, 660 lbs., 93.25; 19 head, 771 lbs., 90.00.
