Salina cattle sales reportThe Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 1,546 head, Oct. 15, compared to 1,246 head, last week and 700 head, last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan. Compared to last week, steers at 400 to 750 pounds were steady to $1.00 lower, and those at 750 to 1,100 pounds were $2 to $4 higher. Heifers at 400 to 500 pounds were steady, and at 500 to 900 pounds were steady to $3 higher. Receipts included 77% 600 pounds and over, 22% 600 pounds and under, and 1% slaughter cows. Trade and demand were good. The feeder supply included 77% steers and 23% heifers.
