Pratt livestock auction reportPratt Livestock Sales Inc., Pratt, Kan., reported receipts of 1,167 head, Oct. 15, compared to 848 head, last week and 549 head, last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan. Compared with last week, steers at 700 to 800 pounds were steady to $1 higher, 800 to 900 pounds were $1 to $6 higher, bulk of the trade were $4 to $5 higher. Steers under 700 pounds and those over 950 pounds were steady on a light test. Heifers were not enough for an adequate market test, but a higher undertone was noted. Slaughter cows were $2 to $3 lower, mostly low dressing. Slaughter bulls were not enough for a test, a lower undertone was noted. Trade and demand were moderate. The feeder supply included 70% steers and 30% heifers, with 94% over 600 pounds.
