Newell sheep sales reportSt. Onge Livestock Co., Ltd., Newell, S.D., reported receipts of 6,7345 head Oct. 15, compared to 4,155 head last week and 4,147 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week's sale, feeder lambs sold mostly $2 to $3 higher. Slaughter ewes sold mostly steady to $2 higher. Buyer attendance was good with good demand. The supply consisted of approximately 80% feeder lambs, 14% slaughter ewes and bucks, 6% replacement ewes. Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, 254 head, 166 lbs., 34.00. Utility 1 to 2, 307 head, 149 lbs., 26.25; 53 head, 204 lbs., 26.00. Cull and Utility 1 to 2. 131 to 134 lbs., 18.50 to 20.50 (18.88). Cull 1 to 2, 31 head, 121 lbs., 10.50. Feeder lambs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 51 to 56 lbs., 112.50 to 117.00 (116.38); 62 to 66 lbs., 111.50 to 117.00 (114.94); 73 to 78 lbs., 109.00 to 112.50 (111.00); 80 to 88 lbs., 100.75 to 107.50 (103.57); 90 to 97 lbs., 95.50 to 98.00 (96.18); 101 to 109 lbs., 91.00 to 94.00 (92.13); 163 head, 113 lbs., 92.25; 57 head, 124 lbs., 89.50. Medium frame 1 to 2, 51 to 53 lbs., 102.50 to 103.50 (103.01); 60 to 65 lbs., 109.00 to 110.00 (109.43); 73 to 76 lbs., 101.50 to 106.50 (104.07); 20 head, 88 lbs., 94.00; 95 to 99 lbs., 90.25 to 93.75 (91.52).
