Nov. 9 and 10 Nebraska Wind Power 2009 Conference agenda released

Nebraska

The final agenda for the Nebraska Wind Power 2009 Conference was released Oct. 16. The Nebraska wind conference will be held in Kearney at the Holiday Inn Convention Center Nov. 9 and 10.

More than 70 expert speakers in 19 different workshops will cover a wide range of issues facing small and large wind energy development in Nebraska during the two day conference. In addition, Governor Dave Heineman and Larry Flowers, National Technical Director of Wind Powering America at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden, Colo., will keynote the conference.

The Conference will start at 8:30 a.m., Nov. 9 with a general session on wind and public power basics that should help participants take better advantage of the topics covered in the two sets of parallel workshops. The two day conference workshops will include a wide range of topics with experts on small and large wind.

John Hansen, Nebraska Wind Working Group Co-Chair said, "This year's conference has a heaping helping of wind information, experts, and exhibitors. While last year's conference was outstanding, we think this year's conference will be even bigger and better. I am extremely pleased with the quality and diversity of our commercial exhibits. They complement our outstanding set of speakers and workshops. Nebraska more than doubled its wind generation this past year. We are moving forward."

Hansen announced that the early registration deadline has been extended to the end of October.

"Early registrations are coming in well ahead of last year. We encourage people to take advantage of the early bird rates of $60 per person and $30 per student rates, which starting November 1st will increase to $75 per person and $45 per student. The registration fees include the cost of meals. We had 462 registrations last year, but we anticipate as many or more this year. Space limits us to 650 participants, so we will be forced to limit registrations to the first 650." Hansen estimated over 200 registrations to date.
