American Simmental Association to host National Show at American RoyalAmerican Simmental Association members from across the nation will gather to exhibit their Simmental and Percentage Simmental cattle at the National Simmental Show held during the American Royal in Kansas City, Missouri, Oct. 31 to Nov. 1. The father and son team of Bill Conley, Cameron, Mo., and Kyle Conley, Oklahoma City, Okla., will evaluate this year's show. There are a total of 377 entries for the event from 165 different exhibitors. For the fifth consecutive National Show, Land O'Lakes Purina Feed has been the major sponsor of this prestigious event. This sponsorship provides funding for the Grand Champion and Reserve Champion Purebred Simmental bulls to be entered into the ASA Carcass Merit Program, designed to test young sires and advance breed improvement. Both Percentage and Purebred Bulls will show beginning at 3 p.m., Oct. 31 in Hale Arena. The Junior Heifer Show will be held Nov. 1, starting at 8 a.m., and will be immediately followed by the Simmental National Progress Through Performance Female Show and group classes. ASA Annual Meeting In addition to the shows held in Kansas City, the ASA will also hold its Annual Meeting Oct. 30, at 3 p.m., in the Hilton Kansas City Airport hotel. The ASA Chairman's Reception and Foundation Auction will follow this meeting at 6:30 p.m. The American Simmental Association is headquartered in Bozeman, Mont., and maintains the breed registries for the Simmental and Simbrah breeds of cattle. ASA has an active adult and junior membership of nearly 8,000.
