United Sorghum Checkoff Program launches SorghumCheckoff.comThe United Sorghum Checkoff Program has launched a new website to provide interactive and up-to-date information about the sorghum industry and the progress of the Sorghum Checkoff Program at www.sorghumcheckoff.com. "My hope is that producers will take advantage of the new site, because it is there for them to use," said USCP Communications Committee Chair Billy Bob Brown. "The website will allow producers to take advantage of the opportunity to be updated on the latest sorghum research and market development." The site features a section devoted to current sorghum research information. The page provides links to USCP research partners across the country, as well as details on current checkoff research projects. The Sorghum Marketing Development section outlines specific marketing efforts aimed toward each use of sorghum including international and domestic use, biofuels, animal feed, gluten-free food and new uses. Additionally, the site features the latest news stories involving USCP and archives past articles. Visitors can also look to the events calendar for details on upcoming events in the industry. In the future, the website will continue to grow and develop, adding a new research database, extensive information on market development activities and opportunities and even more interactive features. Please continue to check back to www.sorghumcheckoff.com often to benefit from new updates and features. The United Sorghum Checkoff Program was established in 2008 under the authority of the Commodity Promotion, Research and Information Act of 1996. Funding for the checkoff is derived from value based assessments on all grain sorghum and forage sorghum produced in the U.S. as well as from a similar assessment on imported grain sorghum. A 13-member producer board of directors administers the national checkoff program, subject to USDA approval.
