Terry Swanson elected vice chairman of National Sorghum Producers Board

Colorado

The National Sorghum Producers announced on Oct. 1, that Terry Swanson, a sorghum producer from Walsh, Colo., was elected vice chairman of their board. Swanson is currently president of the Colorado Sorghum Producers. Gerald Simonsen, a sorghum producer from Ruskin, Neb, was elected chairman.

Swanson said that he wants to help re-establish grain sorghum as a significant crop.

"We've lost market share due to basis, marketing, and agronomic concerns. NSP is a organization that concerns itself with legislative issues and also works together with the United Sorghum Check-Off program. We have many of the same issues as other grains. This is a chance for me to give back to the community by working on legislative issues that effect all of us. I also want to do all that I can to make sure that the check-off works for sorghum producers and that we support it in Colorado." Swanson said.

NSP represents U.S. sorghum producers. The organization serves as the voice of the sorghum industry coast to coast through legislative representation, regulatory representation, and education. To learn more about NSP, visit www.sorghumgrowers.com.

CSP was organized in November 2007 as a voluntary membership organization to represent sorghum producers at the state and national levels of government and is a member state organization of NSP. CSP also advances the sorghum industry through public and private research into sorghum production and works to develop, promote and improve the domestic and export markets for sorghum through the United Sorghum Check-off Program.
